How to Achieve the Beachy Waves Everyone is Buzzing About This Summer!
Have you been curious about trying beachy waves as a hairstyle?
If you follow the techniques that I’m about to explain your hair will have beautiful, bouncy, beachy waves that everyone will envy!
Apply curl enhancing products from the Pureology Curl complete line to give your hair a great foundation for achieving beachy waves. Make sure hair is thoroughly saturated with product from your roots to the ends. It’s critical to make sure saturation goes all the way down from the scalp to the bottom. This is the number one reason that curly beachy wavy textures don’t work for our clients at home. When you make sure to saturate the entire strand of hair root, you will get amazing beachy wave results.
Allow hair to air dry completely while scooping from the bottom up ever so often just to make sure your hair is energized and air drying with as much texture and bounce as possible. If you are in a hurry, by all means give your hair a blow dry being careful not to make it frizzy – get it as dry and as fast as possible without putting a lot of effort into your blowout style.
Spray hair with a heat styling protective product. Some of our favorites are Iron Shape or Hot Sets by Redken. Both of these protect the hair much like sun screen protects you when you go outside in the sun. If you’re going to use any type of heated styling tool on your hair you must use a heat protective styler.
Bring on the style winder. This is my absolute favorite tool for creating beautiful, bouncy waves that look like you just stepped off the beach! To keep this look young, fresh and on trend, make sure you’re holding your style winder in a vertical position – taking the regular triangle shaped sections will make ensure a great beachy wave type of texture. The more random your sections are the better.
Allow hair to cool completely and shake out waves. I love using Pureology’s new Wind Tossed Textured Finishing Spray or Redken’s 05 Windblown. Both of these sprays complete the look by giving you the best beachy waves that have that ‘wind blowing in your hair’ type of feeling.
I hope you have fun trying out these fun beachy wave textures. Let me know how it’s going for you. I would love to see pics of your beautiful waves – tag me on Instagram @traceywattscirino or post them here.
